    A: Survival Skill 6 - Accessing & Analyzing Information
B: “Knowing how hard it is to collect a fact, you understand why most people want to have some fun analyzing it.” --Jesse L. Greenstein
C: We have already done a significant project in this class in which I have developed this skill. This was the WIKI spaces / google presentation project. I had to access all the information I possibly could to collect the best and most important data for my topic. I posted this data on WIKI spaces. I then had to analyze my research, and put it into a google presentation in a way that made it simple to learn for my classmates.
D: Survival Skill 7 - Curiosity & Imagination - In Painting & Drawing, we had the option to do whatever we pleased for our final project. Those stimulated my curiosity and imagination in many ways. I was able to decide on anything we have done throughout the entire course. In the end, I chose to do a colored pencil drawing, since in my opinion it was the most attractive medium to use.

    A. Survival Skill 7 - Curiosity & Imagination
    B. “Judge a person by their questions rather than their answers.” --Santiz
    C. The WIKISPACES/Google Docs project required me to use survival skill #7. I had to be curious and explore all the information and then use my imagination to help my group form slides that would promote our project. My curiosity helped me to keep searching until I found the best, most detailed information out there.
    D. Survival Skill 7 - Curiosity & Imagination. In economics we had to do a “Dream Project”. The project consisted of creating a budget for both right now, and for twenty years from now. I had to use my imagination to decide which house, job, car, and more I wanted for now and twenty years. It was hard to imagine some of these things because twenty years from now things might be totally different. I also had to be curious because I had to search costs of certain things. I was curious to see if either one of my budgets would work out in the end. To my surprise they both worked out with money to spare.

    A. Survival skill #1-Critical thinking and problem solving
    B. "Thinking is the key"
    C. On the computer i was having trouble figuring out how to put things into descending order. I was having trouble doing this and when i had called Mr. Minotti over to help me, but he just stood over my shoulder watching me try different things. I had to work through it and try multiple things to figure out how to do it. The teacher was unable to help me and i was forced to spend a massive amount a time on it in order to figure it out. Even though i had already spent a good amount of time on it before i had called him over to help.
    D. Survival skill #1-Critical thinking and problem solving-In AP English it is up to me to analyze and determine out what the meaning may be behind the book or what a symbol may mean. In this class though we have things called Socratic seminars and they are group discussion to what every ones interpretation of the book is. This requires critical thinking to go beyond the books literal sense.

    A. Survival Skill 7 - Curiosity & Imagination
    B. “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.” Albert Einstein
    C. An activity that we did in class that demonstrated this was the Wiki presentations. If we had only presented what we knew and didn’t research more advanced facts, the audience would have become quickly bored with standard common-knowledge facts. By questioning and looking deeper into the topic, we were able to find more fascinating material that retained the audience’s attention. (And also we looked extremely intelligent!)
    D. In Español 3, we made brochures that promoted tourism in Buffalo. We had to find different places within the city that would appeal to various types of visitors including sports fanatics, musicians, historians, and families. By making us focus on different spectrums, we learned about different areas of interest in Buffalo beyond HSBC Arena and Ralph Wilson Stadium. Also the designing of the brochure required me to make some edits to the template so it would flow better.

    - J. William Fulbright
    C. I used Critical Thinking and problem solving to figure out how to get the video to work on the slide. I tried my flash drive, then we hyper linked it.
    D. Survival Skill #1-In another class I used critical thinking and problem solving by in 8th grade we did a project on as if we had to buy a house, car and pay for bills. I had to make sure I had enough money and figure what I couldn't get if I didn't. That all included critical thinking and problem solving.

    C. Something that we did in this class that has prompted me to develop this skill was the Wikispaces and Google Docs projects. It made me curious about how exactly to use them and what the difference between them was.
    D. Another project that prompted curiosity, was in my Intro to Business class. We had to come up with our own business, make logos, etc. and this made me curious about all the different types of businesses.

    B. “We are routinely surprised at the difficulty some young people have in communicating: verbal skills, written skills, presentation skills." - Mike Summers

    C. In this class, I presented a project I did on Memory and Storage Devices, to my peers. We used google presentation to present it. I had to read the information outloud to my peers.

    D. Another project I used this in, was for AP US History, where I had to present to the class, why the year I was assigned and researched, was the most important year, in causing the War of 1812. I made note cards and presented them to the class. This helped my Oral Communication because I had to read them to the class and try to persuade my class, that my year was the best.

    A) 5. Effective oral and written communication

    B) “The ability to speak effectively is as crucial as the ability to write effectively, according to studies about kinds of communications most often required of employees.”

    C) One thing that I have completed in this class that promoted the development of this skill is doing a presentation on the different parts of a computer. Another activity that helped me tone this skill is the creativity of the word lessons and how you have to make up your own letters and documents. Also another activity is only communication through Google docs. This is tricky but can be done as long as the other person or people are on the same time you are.

    D) One class that also used this skill is English class were we will creative write about a random topic as a brain starter for the day. This improves the written communication part of this skill by making you think about one specific thing. Another activity was communicating through wiki spaces to an English class in Scotland.

    A. Survival Skill 7 - Curiosity & Imagination

    B. “Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.”
    - Jamie Paolinetti

    C. Overall, working on these projects has really challeneged me to start working on my imagination. We had to figure out ways around certain problems with our projects, so thinking of inventive ways to help allieviate our issues is using imagination.

    D. Art. I take a lot of art classes and they always require you to use a lot of imagination when you're thinking of projects to work on, or what to work with when you're doing them. Painting in particular, since you have no eraser for your mistakes- sometimes you've just gotta go over it again and start fresh.

    A. Survival Skill 6 - Accessing & Analyzing Information

    B. “Never before has so much information been available, so easily and inexpensively, about so many subjects.” – Herbert E. Meyer.

    C. In class we have researched a few topics and gotten a lot of information on them. We also had to analyze them because we had to teach the class our topic.

    D. Survival Skill 5 – Effective Oral & Written Communication. I have used this skill in English this year when we had to do a project on two adults in our lives that we had to interview and talk to. The reason we did this was because we were reading the book Tuesdays With Morrie. There was also a written response as well as a presentation we had to do. Also, I’ve had to do many written and oral projects over the years.

C.)All the projects we have done. Everyone learns something new everyday and with looking up things about a certain topic your learning something new. You go through the data and learn about it.
D.) I think the project we just did was about accessing and analyzing information. When I was in English last half we had to do out senior thesis. We did a lot of research and everyone learned something about their topic they didn't know before.

    A. Survival Skill#7- Curiosity and imagination.
    B. “Sometimes questions are more important than answers.”
    C. In this class we were able to pick a topic with a group that we had interest in, or we were curios about. I really like sports so my group picked salary caps in sports as a topic. This project gives me the opportunity to get information on something I am curious about and I can use my imagination to make it fun for everyone to be curios about.
    D. In English we had to do a project on what life was like for our parents or grandparents. I chose the topic of what it was like in the 60’s and 70’s and I interviewed my grandma and mom. I was curious about how school was different and the prices of things back then. I learned a lot from that project, and was able to share it with the rest of my class.

    a.) Curiosity and imagination #7

b.)“Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning.”

c.) In this class the most recent project that has forced me to use my imagination was the Google presentation that we are working on. This makes me use my imagination because we have to pick a topic.

d.) Another class that I have to use my imagination is in American film. We are working on making a silent film. This will help me use my imagination because we have to try and use our imagination to explain what is going on instead of words.

    A.) Survival skill #1
B.) "A man who does not think for himself does not think at all."
C.)One thing that i did in class to promote this skill is the word lessons that we had to do by March 6. I had to take my knowledge of Microsoft Word in the past and use it to do some of the lessons. They had it mostly explained in the book, but there were some things that I had to think back to the past where I used this information before.
D.) Survival Skill-Curiosity and Imagination. I had to use this for my economics class when we did our dream projects. We had to find a house and a car and create our own life in the future. We had to find a "dream job" and calculate our expenses to see if we can afford everything. Then we had to present it to the rest of the class and share with them our dream life.

    A) Survival Skill 5 - Effective Oral & Written Communication

    B) Say what you mean and mean what you say.
    -George S. Patton

    C) In our project with the wiki spaces and google, we had to break out our communication skills with people we might have not even known. granted, it was not spoken communication, but it was written communication. We had to talk to each other in order to move our project towards success. We had to use our skill of spoken communication as well when we presented our projects to the class. In presenting them, we not only talked to the class about what we learned, we enforced the things we learned in our own brains.

    D) An example of a class that I had to show my communication skills is English. We had a project to do that involved us getting into groups and forming a debate. We were on teams of 3 and had to communicate to come up with the facts we were going to bring up at the debate. We had to work together as a group and communicate orally to get our project done on time to debate with the others.
